For those of you who would like to accessorize your swinging screen door a little, AtoZ offers three upgrade options:
Heavy-Duty Pet- & Child-Resistant Screen Fabric
Did you know that if you purchase a Swinging Screen Door from AtoZ, you have the option to have heavy-duty fabric installed? This heavy-duty screen upgrade will be either Phifer Pet Screen, or Phifer Suntex Sunscreen fabric.
Made from tough polyester strands and coated with a special vinyl coating, Pet Screen and Sunscreen is much stronger and more durable than standard lightweight charcoal fiberglass bug screen which is important if your screen door is likely to be subjected to tough customers such as kids, pets, or drunk friends!
In addition, the heavy-duty screen material provides awesome daytime privacy! You can see out, but strangers can’t see in! If you are purchasing a swinging screen door for your front door, this is a nice feature because strangers or solicitors won’t easily be able to see into your home!
If you have pets, kids, or like to throw raucous parties, purchasing your Screen Door with heavy-duty screen is a smart choice!
Heavy Duty Fabric
Heavy-duty fabric is available in Black, Grey, Brown, Stucco/Desert Sand, and Beige.
Pet Door
Are you tired of fetching the door for Fido? Are you tired of playing cat and mouse with your kitty while it decides whether it really wanted to go out after all? If you’d rather get your up-down exercise on Sunday in a Catholic church pew rather than while trying to relax on your couch, have a pet door installed so your critters can see themselves out so you can stay sacked out!
Pet doors are also a great way to help keep your pets from jumping on or scratching at your screen door to come in or out. Pet doors will keep your screen from getting scratched and save you a ton of time!
What size should you buy? Measuring your pet’s height (from the floor up to it’s shoulder blade) will give you a good idea what size pet door you should purchase. Available in Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large, pet doors are available for just about any size pet.
The following measurements are the size of the actual pet door opening/flap size. The pet door’s outer frame will be slightly larger.
Small: 4 ¾” wide X 7 1/8” high (often too small for many house cats. Appropriate for very small cats, guinea pigs, and uninvited squirrels 😉
Medium: 8 ½” wide X 12 ½” high (appropriate for cats and very small dogs such as chiwawas)
Large: 11 ½” wide X 16 7/8” high (appropriate for medium sized dogs such as pugs, beagles, etc)
Extra Large: 14 ½” wide X 19 ½” high (appropriate for large dogs such as german shepherds, rottweilers, Golden Retrievers, Labs, etc)
Pet Grille
While many of our swinging screen doors come with a pet grille built into the door, many models do not have anything protecting the screen across the bottom. Because they like the looks of a screen door without a grille, some homeowners opt to purchase a swinging screen door that does not have a built-in pet grille, but choose to purchase an add-on pet grille for temporary protection.
Why? Most often, the homeowner has a temporary situation (such as a pet or small child) where protection on the bottom half of the door would be a wise course of action, but can easily be removed once the dog or child has outgrown the urge to abuse the screen door.
All pet grilles are manufactured with tough stretched aluminum and guaranteed not to rust. Pet grilles are 33 ½” tall and available in white, bronze, almond, and silver. These particular pet grilles are custom-made to fit swinging screen doors and will not work on most sliding patio glass doors.
Following the care and maintenance tips for your new swinging screen door will help ensure years of bug-free breezes and trouble-free use.
