Our Northern California workshop was held all day August 23, 2003 in Sacramento, California. This workshop was a big hit. We had lots of fun, raffles and a big BBQ. There was a large attendance and it was another successful workshop.
Member and G.S.C.S.G. Director Aaron and Marie Zambrana and their family hosted the workshop. What wonderful hosts! They invited each of us to come early, stay late and bring our tents, trailer, or campers. Many sweeps took advantage of this camping going and war stories lasted way into Friday night. We even had roasted marshmallows.
Aaron was up bright and early greeting all attendees. We started off with Greg Polakow on a resource to the sweeping industry, many tips, drop shipping, relining buddy program, and the insurance ideas that they are working on. This seminar was an eye opener, Greg did a wonderful job. A big thank you goes out to Copperfield for sending Greg, and supporting the G.S.C.S.G.
Then we moved on to Aaron Zambrana teaching sweeps of the art of the business systems on How to Make Your Business Run in Spite of You, Not because of You. All about marketing 101, on basics of successful marketing methods on a shoe string budget. What all of us needs to know about marketing? Most of us as working sweeps tend to know the job along with technical aspect. But when it comes to the business part a lot of us get away with the old school form of techniques. Having the training on business marketing could be a wonderful asset to your business.
Breaking for lunch Daniel Dempsey, the head of the BBQ crew, gave the worked to start their engines. Daniel Dempsey and Daniel Schneider and many more started cooking. We had some great hamburgers and hot dogs along with salmon Tammy and Richard provided. James Keeton put it on the grill with some brown sugar, what can I say it was delicious. We had a feast we will never forget. More war stories and great company followed. Then we raffled off items that were donated by members and suppliers. A big Thank You goes out to all that donated or our raffle.
After lunch we learned about ladder safety by John Crabtree. John has been around the chimney business for many years. As you can see in photos, his arm was in a sling, he had shoulder surgery after taking a fall. Be careful! It could happen to any one of us. We’re not getting any younger. Learn by others mistakes and use your ladder safety rules. It might save your life. John Crouch came to our workshop to explain the legislation activities. We are still confused. I think they write it like that, to keep us in confusion.
We ended the last seminar with a stove resources manager explaining the ins and outs of the industry.
Our next workshop will be in Southern California, March 6, 2004 all day Saturday. Our host will be Jeremy Crane with MC Manufacturer’s. RSVP at 760-244-1304
The workshop will be geared toward Diversifying for extra profits. Check out the Chim News for details. You’ll like it. Hope to see you there.

Your employee was on time and very careful about cleanliness! I appreciated the fact that he took the time to not only put tarps down in front of my fireplace, but also everywhere he walked as he came in and out of my home… I have had my chimney cleaned by several companies over the years, and I don’t think I remember anybody being as careful to keep it clean as A to Z!
Also, another difference I noticed was the fact that your guy was here about ½ hour longer than any other chimney guys I’ve had in the past. Not only did it seem he was more meticulous and concerned about doing a thorough job, but he also put a Chim Scan Camera up into my chimney after cleaning to make sure there were no dangerous cracks or gaps.
You guys weren’t the cheapest in town, but I feel I DEFINTELY got a better value with your company than any others I’ve used in the past. You took more time, did a better job, and thoroughly answered all of my questions in terms that I could understand.
Great job from start to finish! Now that I’ve found you, I’ll use A to Z exclusively from now on!
